Dub vs. Sub Review:
Voice Acting Japanese - The Japanese cast is amazing, as always ^_^ English - The English VAs actually did a pretty good job. One of the things I was most pleased about was Koola's voice...he actually sounded like a man! He had a pretty good voice, actually ^_^ The normal cast was as good as they ever are. The only thing I could complain about was the voices of Koola's henchmen...every one of them was annoying...one had a really high voice, and another had this really horrible French accent =P Music I'll admit, the music in Movie 5 is much better than that used in Movie 4...largely due to the fact that it was quieter, and they knew when to turn it off...I still didn't like it much, though. Dialogue Translation Right from the start, they botched it. They used that old dialogue from the Furiiza Saga, in which they made Bardock act as if he had brought a group of men to fight Furiiza, when in fact the men behind him were Furiiza's soldiers! Also, apparently someone doesn't know how to count...they claimed that Furiiza had only 3 forms, while Koola had 4...yet Furiiza clearly had 4 forms, thus Koola had 5. They also added a lot of dialogue, but nothing too horrible (except for Yajirobe's 'bean daddy' line >.<). Anything important was left pretty much alone. Important Names The only thing I can complain about the names was that they used 'Cooler' instead of 'Koola'. I've never liked that translation of the name; but then, that's just my opinion. Plot They left the plot alone. Censorship I only saw the Japanese subbed, and the uncut English, so I can't say for sure. Violence - I doubt they cut anything Kat's Opinion I prefer the subtitled version, though the dub wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. After watching Movie 4's dub, I was seriously worried about this one. |
