Dub vs Sub Review:
Outlaw Star

Voice Acting

Japanese -   The Japanese cast is very good.  They are all talented, and their voices fit their characters nicely.

English -  The English cast is very good.  All the VAs are of considerable talent, and their voices fit the characters very well.  No complaints.

Music

The same music is used in both the English and Japanese version.

Dialogue Translation

The dub of Outlaw Star stayed true to the original dialogue.   The sentences were sometimes worded in a different order (That is, the same words were used, just in a different order), but they stay true to the original translation.

Important Names

They kept all the names, and did a great job of pronouncing them.

Plot

The plot was left entirely alone.  Practically nothing changed, or deleted.

Censorship

The version of the dub that is included on the DVDs is uncut, but the version shown on Cartoon Network has been censored.  Some things the CN version censored were:

Violence -  They mostly left the violence alone, with the occasional removal of blood.
Nudity
- They never showed an episode where Gene and his crew go to a hot springs planet, due to the nudity.  Also, whenever Melfina is connected to the XGP, they painted a bathing suit on her.
Sexual Situations
- Gene is no longer a pervert...He doesn't make rude comments, physical contact, or associate with hookers.  Also, Fred Low is not as noticeably gay.
Profanity
- Any profanity was removed from the dub

Kat's Opinion

I actually like each version almost equally.  The (uncut) dub was done so well that I actually think it is as good as the subtitled version.
